METRÔ

Entram apressados no metrô. A voz gravada anuncia a próxima estação.

SUBWAY

They rushed into the subway. "Always full", they think, while mixing around with people through the wagon. Music blasting on their headphones, they can't notice they are listening to the same song. Worried about being late, they don't realise that time would stop if they exchanged just a single look. The recorded voice announced the next station. They disembarked the subway, fading into the sea of people walking fast, not knowing that they have left a great love behind.

MÃOS

Andavam de mãos dadas pela rua. Gostavam daquilo.

HANDS

They walked holding hands down the street. Both secretly thinking about how they liked that. Feeling each other's skin. A simple gesture that connected them both. They joked about not letting go of each other's  hand for anything that happened on the way and he, from time to time, pulled her for a kiss. Would those hands ever receive a ring, she thought. And he, unaware of the question in her mind, replied to himself that he wanted to hold that hand for eternity.

EYES OF LOVE

She saw love in everything. On signs, in the traffic, on the subway, in people. She had become a magnet for couples in love and everything that revolved around her seemed to be in an eternal romance. On TV, clichéd movies proved that love was still trending. On the phone, the surprise of a voice message filled her heart with joy. And then she realised. Love wasn't just out there. Love was also inside her.

Sentia falta do carinho. Sentia falta até das brigas. Sentia falta dele.

MEMORIES

Pictures, cards, candy wrappers. She looked at those pieces of memory and saw the moments come back to life. She clutched a letter to her chest and the deepest feelings of longing made tears run down her cheeks. She missed the smiles, the banter, the movies on the mattress. She missed the affection. She even missed the fights. She missed him.

AS HORAS

As horas passavam devagar.

THE HOURS

The hours were passing slowly. The minutes seemed to whisper to each other, plotting a sleepy plan next to the clock's hand. Faster, she ordered. Anxiety that consumed. Doubts that burned. A meeting, a conversation, a decision. Putting part of her life in someone else's hands just didn't feel right. What if I suffer?, she thought. To which her heart replied: Then we'll try again.

THE PAIN

She had every reason in the world to forget him. From the simplest to the cruelest. She thought about how much he had hurt her... and felt it again. She thought about how much she wanted to be happy... and felt it again. Pain was a stupid thing, she thought. It couldn't be right to feel that the only thing capable of taking your pain away was exactly who had caused it... and felt it again.

A DOR

Pensava no quanto ele a havia machucado e sofria. E sofria.

THE PROBLEM

For a long time she looked for the problem in her own self. She tried to find reasons, to notice flaws. She tried to understand why everything had to end like this. But as she looked at him for the last time, she was reminded of the love she once felt. And then it came to her. The problem wasn't her, her feelings, her way of loving, or any of that. The problem was him.

O PROBLEMA

E enxergou. O problema não estava nela. O problema era ele.

MICRO-ROMANCES

Looks, kisses, conversations, short stories. Micro-romances that she lives little by little. All because of a love that didn't work out, she says. Giving your body and soul only to gain disappointment? Not anymore. Now she gives herself to no one, she waits for no one. Now she lives without plans, one day and a party at the time. Now she lives for the world.

MICROROMANCES

FENG SHUI

She needed to change the course of things, reinvent the routine. In Feng Shui decoration, balance comes with the exchange of energies, with the change of objects, with the renovation of the environment. So that was it, she thought. She was going to redecorate everything: her heart, her mind, her life.

FENG SHUI

MIRACLE

Problems had tired her. Loneliness slept in her bed every night and she no longer knew what patience was. She was fed up with cycles that only started, ending halfway through. She wanted a change. She wanted a call. She wanted an appearance. She closed her eyes. She wanted a miracle.

MILAGRE

SOLAR

He stopped his eyes on hers. And in a second, he lost himself there. Iris, retina, colors, reflections. The sun shone along with them. She smiled. For him, one more treasure has just joined the golden world of that late afternoon. In love. He was definitely in love.

SOLAR

Parou os olhos nos dela. E em um segundo, se perdeu. Íris, retina, cores, reflexos. O sol brilhava junto com eles. Ela sorriu. Apaixonado. Ele estava apaixonado.

PROTEST

Lying down in bed, she realised that the silence in the room was a contrast to the screaming going on in her head. Where had she lost control of her life? She felt like a piece of her was missing. And as every part of her body ached, she knew that was a protest. Her body was claiming the missing piece. Her body claimed his.

PROTESTO

WORLD

He looked at her with the eyes of someone who was keeping a secret, and hugged her tiny body, trying not to shiver. She thought he was just nervous, as she also was. But in fact he was thinking about how much of a responsibility it was to finally hold his world in his arms.

MUNDO

THE KISS

How many times had she said that? "I love you" is not just any sentence. Saying "I love you" is not like saying "Good morning", she thought. That was why she was so afraid of opening her mouth and letting her throat bring the sound of truth out there. Until his kiss silenced her completely. She didn't need to say it out loud. He already knew.

O BEIJO

Quantas vezes havia dito aquilo?
